Police are held to a higher standard than general population, that’s what justifies their increased power. They should all 100% of the time know where their gun is. No defense here.

They are. But mistakes still happen. Especially in the heat of the moment when someone is fighting with the cops and resisting arrest. Which is why it’s best to not do those things.
