The fact they expected their time capsule to be found, is intriguing.

It probably has a note with instructions on how to fundamentally transform their economy without slavery.

So they actually expected the statue to, one day, be removed.

1887? Buried under a Confederate statue? In a Southern State? Everything in that time capsule is going to upset the American left. They'll probably have protests demanding all the items be burned.

Your article states they uncovered it, found what they believe is one. But then goes on to say they spent 12 hours searching for it after the statue removal. So did they know it was there already?

Time capsule, from folx who thought Lee statue worthy, from a time that cemented today’s continuing racial bias… I’m curious and acknowledge its historical significance but perhaps the coolest thing would be to ignore it, destroy it.

I get what you’re saying but it’s important. Those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it, and with the direction our country is headed- I think we need all the learning we can get. It just needs to be contextualized as being from a garbage era in US history
