Chauvin also pleaded guilty to violating the rights of a 14-year-old boy during a 2017 arrest. "George Floyd would still be here” if Chauvin had been held accountable for the earlier incident, Floyd’s nephew, Brandon Williams, said after the hearing.http://apne.ws/54T1cFL

This plea means he can now be called as a witness in the trial of the other officers now as well. Not sure if that played into his decision or not, but now a possibility.

judge: "I accept the guilty plea, and sentence him to time served. I don't believe he would do very well in prison, so that would not be reasonable"

That's not how federal sentencing works.

So. Even if hell freezes over and dudes attorneys manage to get his trial verdict overturned he'd still remain in prison cuz he's plead guilty to the Federal charge? Works for me. Perhaps this is an attempt to get out of Stats prison and move to a Fed facility?
-
Why would he want to do that
