I mean, it’s not that crazy. Maybe your city is different, but our police are few and far between. Basically they just are around to clean up the mess, but they’re not saving anybody…

No one needs to be shot for a car burglary.

"anxious hypervigilance" - really? Here's what happens on mine: "Did anyone hear that? Sounded like gunshots!" "It was fireworks." "I think it was gunshots." "I saw them go up. It was fireworks." "Maybe it was gunshots at the same time!" "I'm signing off now."
-
Mine is more depressing: “Found this dog abandoned, anyone know whose it is?” “Found two abandoned dogs” “Lost dog” “Anyone want to adopt a dog…” “I’m moving and can’t take this dog…” “My dog just had puppies…” “THERES A CAT ROAMING FREE KILLING BIRDS!” I hate it.

And none of it matters. Once you start chasing a man down who you admit doesn't want anything to do with you, it's no longer self defense. If he's running away and you jump in front of him with a gun, it's now murder.

This is true actually. My own neighbor's on the nextdoor app always act like this whenever someone posts a video of a junky walking up to their driveway and checking to see if the cars door is unlocked.

“These platforms serve as vehicles to amplify & echo a feeling that your community is under assault” said Steven Renderos, executive director of group MediaJustice.” “there’s a way in which white vigilante-ism is praised and in a way in which Black existence is criminalized.”
