Perhaps we should proceed with caution with this guy. Yes, nobody is above the law, but he represents the US of 1776, which is still alive in the hearts and minds of millions of Americans. Throwing him in a regular jail is similar to when the Egyptians threw al-Zawahiri in jail.

Arrest him, he bails out, is on house arrest for a bit and becomes a political martyr. Don't arrest him, nothing happens, democracy's thread unravels just a few more turns. It's a lose-lose, but you can choose the loss for yourselves or for the country.
