Dear people of LA, did your ancestors teach you nothing about building crypts above ground? They did so to avoid this exact same issue. Future generations may need to look outside flood range... it's insane this hasn't been made mandatory.

Families should engrave their beloveds' names and (former) home addresses on their floatable caskets. This is definitely not what Louisianians were imagining by "Rest In Peace."

That law was passed years ago. Their names are on the ends of the caskets. CBS did a story on it, one man came to pick up his grandmother’s casket and found out it landed on a childhood friends lawn after they started talking.

If this is a common problem perhaps there should be steps taken to secure the vaults in place. Even in Washington state homes being built must have hurricane straps to secure the house to the foundation. We call infrequent wind storms "Big Blows".
