Both... as the ability to report in near any manner is being attacked. To the point if you have even an opinion not following the regime they will find something against you and/or put you on a list.

In the old times, this would have protected the journalists. The govts wouldn't have dared to kill or imprison a Nobel prize winner, but now it's the opposite. they'll do it to show that they can and don't care what the world thinks.
