Of course he believes that because he wouldn't be one of the several thousand stuck there indefinitely and he's not the one paying for it. Meanwhile, taxpayers don't want to keep funding babysitters in a country that refuses to take care of itself after 20 years of hand-holding.

That was the strategy that led to 20 one-year wars in Afghanistan. Maybe we should look ahead and try to salvage what we learned and know about Afghanistan to promote a more prosperous and ultimately freer future. We planted seeds. Now we need to be gardeners, not soldiers.
