Its a clickbait headline really, it just invites accusations of political correctness. The relevant law was written by a conservative government. That said I do think its a little ironic they stopped him going to Syria in 2017 and then wanted to deport him 4 years later

I think we can safely say that New Zealand’s immigration laws need to adapt. The safety of New Zealand citizens more broadly should outweigh the concerns for the individual. His story is most likely trumped up anyway. You can thank the immigration lawyers for that passing muster.
