How can it be soft rock? There's no air supply.

there is air mars has 95% CO2 2% Nitrogen 1% Argon ~2% other but rock formation has little in common with current air. if you look into the "osiris rex" asteroid sampling mission it was soft too even in the vacuum of space. this rock is likely sedemtary rock not good coring rock.
