Years ago — I think it was 1980 — we had 45 consecutive days in NC Texas over 100°. Each evening when you watched the next day’s forecast, seeing the “100°” number again just sucked the life out of you. We survived ONLY with air conditioning. Sorry it’s not very available in PNW.

I feel this sentiment. We've had a scorcher of a summer here in the Columbia Basin area of Eastern Washington. Hot summer days are typical, but seem more relentless this season.

The INSIDE of my house was over 110° during the last heat wave. It sucks when you literally can't escape the heat at all. Only ~30% of homes in the PNW have air conditioning, historically there hasn't been much of a need for it, but that's clearly changing.
