Hackers infiltrated computers used by New York City's subway system, the largest in North America. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says it quickly shut down the attack, and rail service for millions of riders each day was never disrupted.http://apne.ws/3KboqGE

It clearly says it was identified and shutdown because the liberal state obviously does better than companies in conservative states experiencing the same issue. This is why regulations and proper security is important instead of aiming to profit from the efforts.

Can we have a "cyber infrastructure" discussion now that physical infrastructure is being shut down by ancient cyber infrastructure? What about "cyber" isn't decaying and outdated infrastructure in urgent need of repair? Or do we only count rusting bridges and collapsing pipes?

Back around 1990, we did some work at Livermore Labs; one of the directors there said he'd never seen a billion-dollar software project that had succeeded; nobody knew how to manage them. (In spite of there being several methodologies purporting to do so, like DOD-STD-2167.)

Until businesses invest money in their businesses and not merely corporate profits these hacks will occur, it is cheaper to pay hackers than make improvements
