A new world weather agency forecast says there's a 40% chance that at least one of the next five years will be 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) higher than pre-industrial times. That's the mark the Paris climate agreement is trying to avoid.http://apne.ws/EKdZ59Z

We're f*ucked. All it took was 200 years of industrial revolution and unchecked rapacious Capitalism.

Then it's time to fix our own. We talk about pollution in other countries as if US companies didn't take their manufacturing overseas. Finding a way to curb our own polluters would be a step in the right direction and do more than denying disabled people straws does

There were deserts before the engine was invented by Thomas Savery in 1698,so what led to desertification since there were no carbon emissions before that time, from a layman point of view?

Every shift in climate has had a cause. Anything from the Milankovitch cycle (solar) to volcanism to the occasional asteroid. This time the cause is humanity's burning of fossil fuels.

Are they giving a percentage on most likely yr or are they leaving it at 20% and 40% overall. Another way to read this is this year is more likely to be below the doomsday forecasted temp rise.
