Very sad when human life is lost, it seems they were there to pray, so I don’t believe more prayers are going to help.

You did not describe Lag Baomer accurately at all. It is NOT mostly celebrated by ultra-orthodox. It signifies the 33 day of the Omer, a countdown from Passover to Shavuot, and this day allows things that were prohibited the first 33 days. And it's celebrated with a bonfire

Lag Ba’omer gone horribly wrong. How heartbreaking to lose so much life during the celebration of the Rabbi that wrote Kaballah and all it’s ancient mysticism.

Every year thousands of Sunni/Shiite pilgrims in Mecca kill each other in stampede. As it seems, this is one of the fatal common denominators with their Jawish cousins. Sad.
