I have 10 years experience with the Japanese system. Usually you have 20-60 seconds before the shaking starts. That doesn’t seem like a very long but it’s enough time to turn off a gas stove, put down a sharp object, get off a ladder or put on shoes and brace yourself.

This is dumb AF. Apparently it's News to people that NO, these quakes happen so fast, there isn't a chance in hell you're going to react any fast than when the shit is moving, you react instantly. You make a decision based on a jolt or a rolling quake. Hint, rollers, go outside!

This is entirely false. Seconds matter in earthquakes. People are killed by the objects around them. This could save lives by giving people a few extra seconds to get to a safer area.
