In Mexico, the government did little, aside from asking its people to act responsibly. The result: more than 100,000 deaths, a number that is presumed to be an understatement. #PandemicAtlas http://apne.ws/WquY7Au pic.twitter.com/BmeS8VH7YT

From March to May, France experienced one of Europe’s strictest lockdowns, shuttering the country’s famed cafes. France went into a second lockdown in the run-up to Christmas. #PandemicAtlas http://apne.ws/kYumzF3 pic.twitter.com/ShS94oOC5Y

The coronavirus emerged a year ago in Wuhan, China, and swept across the world. It brought joblessness and lockdowns, infirmity and death to all corners of the globe. But each nation has its own story of how it coped. Read @AP's #PandemicAtlas project.http://apne.ws/U5bTe4U

The states in the US ran the gamut from the "let them die so that the stock market might live" Red States to the "protect the people at all costs" Blue States, but because there are idiots in both Red and Blue States there is death everywhere

Fascinating. I wonder how this pandemic would have gone if we had a president who was able to keep the situation medical and not political. I don’t think it would have been much different, really. There have always been the angry and the grieved. The anti-this and that.

Later, the gamut we run will be those with food and a home, against those without anything. A successful long term strategy, indeed....for billionaires.

Ping @AnnLinde @MSBse @OlofssonMorgan @mikaeldamberg @AP spreads highly debatable statement of Sweden having among the highest death rates in the world, despite not being in the top 25. The same is not mentioned for other countries in their overview, despite higher mortaliy rate.pic.twitter.com/VBCKjMirQN
