It's scary that 6 months into a pandemic, with essentially the entire country back open, there are 881K new unemployed people. It's better than the million from each of the past 2 weeks, but still extremely alarming

It's so much worse... The programs designed to get them back on their feet have time limits. The folks on the rolls aren't going back to work, they are just being given the boot by the government.

Hey AP, I appreciate your objective reporting, however, the headline is misleading for people without economics background. The US continues to hemorrhage jobs, but the pace of that job loss is slowing.

. Exactly. To me, the monthly jobs created is misleading since some of those jobs are really where some fortunate workers are returning to jobs they were laid off from.

Doesn't this reflect the fact that many folks are no longer getting any jobless benefits (this is short term I pray) and so are no longer counted?
