Who cares? Contact tracing is a stupid idea that is not going to work in the US.

This is a huge opportunity to employ out-of-work people. What’s lacking in the process?

Somebody paid you to write this. No American citizens want to be tracked. Start with your family first.
-
Thankfully you in no way speak for all Americans. Your view is a minority. I would definitely want to know if I'd been exposed.

Sorry guys, this one is already out of the barn. How many cases do we have, over one million? Lesson in futility at this stage, assume everyone has or will be exposed, focus on safeguarding high risk people, and figuring out how to rescue the economy.
-
Unfortunately it's no longer limited to "high risk". It causes death by stroke in younger people and a related rare inflammatory disease in infants is also on the rise. It's worth it to limit exposure for everyone by containing hotspots.

Contact tracing doesn’t even seem feasible. What if someone goes to Walmart, gets sick and can’t remember what day they went? How are you going to find everyone who might have been there in the last week?
-
The tracking uses Bluetooth tech. It constantly scans for other phones you come in vicinity of. It keeps the list in the cloud. If and when you test positive, it notifies all the people you were close to backwards a certain time period

Needless to say unemployment went way down.
