They don’t want a deal. Some members of the cabinet and some of their friends may have backed a fall in sterling and would stand to make a lot of money when the Pound drops. Plus some also want to make sure Britain is well clear before 10 January when tax liability changes

That has been abundantly clear to everyone. There is a brazen quality to Johnson's claims to want a deal while not even visiting Brussels in search of one. He is undermining trust in Government & this has consequences far beyond even his own self interested machinations.l

Boris had one goal: to become Prime Minister. He pushed for Brexit before the vote, pouted when May was chosen over him as PM, pretended to support her while in cabinet & laid in waiting on the backbench til he got the gig. Everything he’s ‘doing’ now is purely for show.
