No, a lot of people ignored voting. Once it was announced, they got the picture and started panicking about what they were going to lose. Can we do a do over as some called it. Crazy.

Seriously, if the people there exercised their right to vote and not ignored this, we wouldn’t have to be bombarded with hearing about this daily in the US. If you don’t vote, you have no right to complain.

Northern Ireland and Scotland both voted to remain, Scotland by 62%. The problem is that they both have such small populations overall that it came down to England’s population as a deciding factor, leaving the overall vote at 51.9% leave. 72% of the UK’s population voted.

Just go hard Brexit. If compromise doesn't work, the world is global enough that UK Citizens are not going to starve. Economic realities and needs trump anything the EU may be holding out to for tribute or principle.
