Everyone is thinking smaller. The 1% does not want to travel with the hoi polloi.

It's got nothing to do with that. The damn thing is just too big. The larger aircraft on long haul flights are the most profitable for airlines. The A380 is just so big and heavy for so many airports.

Not surprising with all that “new green deal” talk

Nope. The A380 is comparatively very fuel efficient per passenger, but it is so huge it can’t even fly into many airports, and therefore can’t fly many routes. And building new runways and terminals big enough to accommodate it is too expensive.
