President Donald Trump distanced himself from his new acting attorney general Friday, telling reporters "I don't know Matt Whitaker." He told "Fox & Friends" last month that Whitaker was a "great guy." "I mean, I know Matt Whitaker," he told them.http://apne.ws/GFr6Wfh

Instead of saying “distanced himself....” why can the headline just say he lied?

Come on, AP. He didn't "distance himself". He told a bold faced lie, something he does regularly that the media never calls him out on.

Obviously he was confused the first time and thought the question was about Forest Whitaker.

to know Whitaker or not to know, that is the question whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous Mueller, or to take arms against a sea of troubles and by opposing end them

He distanced himself from Whitaker, Sessions, Cohen, Manaforte, the coffee boy now convicted and anyone else now indicted. If he could distance himself from himself, he'd be happy.

DT's 'distancing himself from himself' is, on a deeper level, what he's always done: His is a fully-improvised personality, situated on a denial of his real being. There is NO real feeling, no TRUTH - EVER! All is fakery upon an invented stage. (Bailed out by Dad, Cohn, Putin..)

So if I understand correctly @POTUS has appointed someone he doesn't know to be the Chief Law Officer of the United States. Most unusual. TI #Unlikely #Bollocks

Someone must have told the dolt that if he very well knew of Matt Whitaker and placed him as the designated AG anyway, then that would be another indication of obstruction of justice; therefore, he doesn't know him.

I think by this time we can all agree that there is NOTHING that comes out of his mouth that we can consider truthful. @realDonaldTrump isn't capable of telling the truth. Even the @GOP knows this!
