As they failed to protect their athletes from sexual abuse, that seems a logical step.
-
and they've continued to try to cover up and save face at every turn since the abuse became public.
-
Agree with this move so much. Tear it down. Replace it with something new. It can't be rehabilitated.

The athletes, the young retired ones need to run it.
-
And twice amen
-
I have a lot of friends and family members who are gymnasts or involved with gymnastics so this really hit home for me.
-
I am sure, SMH. It time for a change and its starting with younger people....as almost 50, i am here for it
-
I say this everyday. We need to start electing people under the age of 40. That’s the only hope we have.

Wait will the athletes still get to compete???
-
I’m guessing yes just not as part of that org, maybe?
-
I hope so
-
Yes. Just means that USOC, not USAG, will have the authority to choose the team. It really shouldn't affect the athletes going to Tokyo as long as USOC handles the transition appropriately.
-
And will USOC then secure sponsorships and needed resources to support those athletes?
-
USAG lost all their apparel sponsorships when the Nassar scandal broke. USAG could not afford blankets or even team warm-ups for their athletes this year. USOC has the resources to shepherd a positive transition. Maybe one where our gymnasts are sponsored w/ actual resources.
-
Yeah, ain't like USAG had anything left for the gymnasts anymore.

Good. My daughter was an elite gymnast and she retired in part because of the kinds of things they let happen. When I’d tell people about it, they wouldn’t believe me
-
Glad she’s ok
