I don't either conversation is uncomfortable. People in prisons and non-citizens do not have the right to vote. Prisoners gave up the right when committing a crime. As for reparations, I don't believe any american should have to pay for something they didn't commit directly.

Trump has been committing crimes for a very long time and no one is trying to taking his voting rights away. And why should I pay his salary? I didn't vote for him.
-
I didn't vote for Obama, I still would pay his salary because he was our president. As for Trump, if he is convicted and jailed he would be in the pool of loss voting rights. However, as of right now he is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and still has voting rights
-
I mentioned paying Trump's salary because him being elected isn't something I directly committed.

If you are referring to rapists, murderers, and pedophiles, the only rights these people have is the right be excommunicated from society for the duration of their sentence. Anyone that treasures their voting rights, would remain out in society where they can vote, freely.
-
Reparations is a penalty, a punishment, if you will, for an act white Americans today did not participate in. If you can justify reparations, justify why you shouldn't have to pay for all the crimes done to others by people of whatever race you claim to be. Ignorance isn't bliss.

Dr. Shay. I know how hard it must be to fight like you do, I know that you must get a lot of heat. I want you to know how much you are appreciated.
-
Every day, but heat fires up my resolve more than it would be, if left alone to enjoy the privileges afforded me by the US Constitution. I believe I was a duck in my previous life, because words roll off my back. May you be blessed above all that you need. Thanks and warm hugs.

All I know is one side wants as many citizens as possible to vote and the other side wants as few citizens as possible to vote. I wonder who the good guys are?

-
I thought both sides want the same number of people to vote. One side just wants you to prove you're who you say you are first...
-
Nah, it’s hard to make that case when one side closes polling places in mostly minority areas and reduces early/weekend voting because it favors their opponents...those actions (as intended) reduce the number of people who vote.
-
And gerrymandering
-
Both parties depend heavily on this. good luck changing that.
-
That’s true, but the conservative heavy Supreme Court has been mostly ruling the districts in Republican led states to be improperly drawn...almost like there’s a difference in the degree to which one side does it.
-
People should have a license to vote. I may not even qualify to have said license but yeah, people should have a license to vote. Prove that they know what, and who, they’re voting for and why.
-
Over time, we could have more informed voters by investing much more in public education, though we’re currently going in the other direction.
