Hey Alexandria, take a close look at what is happening in Venezuela and tell us if you still think socialism works.

Venezuela and Norway have the exact same economic structure. Both pay social programs with oil money. One was destroyed and the other is doing fantastically. Logically therefore the Venezuelan crash cannot have been caused by their economic system. It must be other factors.

AOC has come out in favor of price controls, for one example of how to ruin a country's economy in less than a decade.

every other country has price controls on prescription drugs, and they've had them for years doesn't ruin their economies, all it means is their people can afford insulin while Americans can't

one frequent complaint at this point is that the US is effectively subsidizing other countries because of that, which might be true, but I find it extremely strange that people would want Americans to die to subsidize other countries rather than take care of themselves

When the price of a drug goes up 300% while material availability is improved and manufacturing already established and long paid for: there is nothing to subsidize. There is gouging that is killing people and no possible harm can result from ending that.

Drug companies claim the high prices pay R&D for new drugs so one could argue the US is subsidizing research but this isn't strictly true. 90% of drug company expenses is marketing. R&D is a tiny cost. Because in reality drug companies only do the approval process.

The actual R&D is done by public universities and other public research organisations and funded by taxes from things like the NSF. Taxpayers pay the R&D. The only thing drug companies do is bring the result to market. It's a tiny job and they deserve only a tiny paycheck.

I think @AOC needs to issue a public apology for using such a #sexist term. There's clearly no place for this kind of bias in our discourse and s member of #Congress is expected to be better than this.
