This week I went to dive spot in DC for some late night food. I chatted up the staff. SEVERAL bartenders, managers, & servers *currently worked in Senate + House offices.* This is a disgrace. Congress of ALL places should raise MRAs so we can pay staff an actual DC living wage.
It is unjust for Congress to budget a living wage for ourselves, yet rely on unpaid interns & underpaid overworked staff just bc Republicans want to make a statement about “fiscal responsibility.” If that’s the case, they can cut down on staff to pay them well. Or raise the MRA.
Cut your pay and give to them...#socialism
Why would she? She has publically said she couldn't afford the housing in DC, even with her new income.

If the government would stop importing slave labor by the millions, employers would have to pay more.

She is getting $174K a year + 6 figure pension for life w/no earnings restrictions. Then she wants to Venezuela all of us while she keeps her $$. She is playing everyone. Betcha she is a millionaire before she's out of office--paid for by all of us because voters are stupid.
On the bright side of this flawed argument... If she Venezuela's all of us then her million dollars will be worth about $400.
They are CHOOSING to do those ‘jobs’. Internships provide valuable experience. Many of us have done it to further our careers and futures. Sometimes you have to work hard and sacrifice to get where you want to be.
Lack of a living wage, and certainly no wage, means children of wealth are disproportionately able to “work hard and sacrifice”.
Unless, like me you choose to get more than one job and make it work. You have to be willing to want it. I was not a child of wealth, but I did “work hard and sacrifice(d)” a lot.
Let’s move the congress to the center of a wheat field in Kansas. You can eat at a local grill for five bucks.

Probably not. They certainly would not want the socialist fanatics and that’s a bunch.
They also don’t want people of color, LGBT, people who believe in human rights, or women who think they should maintain dominion over their own bodies. You must love it there.
