40% of ALL Americans currently struggle to pay for one basic need like food or rent.
As much as @FoxNews likes to mock the working-class, the real scandal is that at the wealthiest point in our history, we are at one of our most unequal.
Most Americans are barely scraping by.

I live in northern VA. My husband is a public teacher and I work full time for a university. Rent is so high we barely stay afloat. Some months we can’t pay all our bills. It’s ridiculous here
-
The same situation for so many of us. Been living in DC for almost 15 years now. New bldg owner was granted exemption from rent control. Raised rent 50%. I hung on until I couldn’t do it any more. Lost my apartment. This is the new DC. Affordable housing? A myth.
-
Supply and demand. Simple economics. Places that are desirable to live are more expensive. Everyone is subject to this reality.
-
I saw an old ad for a new house in 1953. For fun, I found that same house and calculated the mortgage compared to average salary. 1953 13.8%. 2018 81.8%. That's an unsustainable reality

Maybe you should've been saving up money for the move...
-
Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!! Forget the fact that she’s been out of work campaigning for a chance to be a voice of change in her country. She should’ve just continued to work and save as she HOPED people vote her in while she’s clocked in to save for a potential move...

Seems logical, I’m saving up in case I win the Irish lottery and need to move to Ireland to collect it

What are you going to do with all those pesos?

Every day I work trying desperately to find affordable housing for the homeless women and children I work with! Being poor or working class is not a crime or something to be ridiculed by overly paid people who cannot remember how to pronounce a Congress perdon’s name

Thank you, for your hard work and dedication.

I've always said members of Congress should have to live in poverty while in office because then they might actually help people.
-
They were never supposed to receive a salary in the first place. They were supposed to serve at the will of the people and then go home to their jobs. Suddenly, they’re all millionaires a few months after election.

No one is mocking lower income you twit! We are mocking you and your victimhood mentality! You're soooooo intelligent to be able to be in Congress but yet cant even manage to hold on to any type of funds to live of off? You want the US to support your stupidity. No thank you.
-
I'd rather support the "stupidity" of a struggling, working-class congressperson living off their salary than a dozen of her colleagues who are "smart" enough to have figured out how to grift; stuffing their pockets and owing favors that they end up repaying with our money...

Socialism doesn’t work.
-
Democratic socialism does. Ever hear of the Nordic Model? It’s a hybrid of capitalism & socialism. The countries who use it have the highest rate of life satisfaction. (Bet you don’t even know what socialism actually is, you’re just parroting bulls**t.)
