    Yesterday, Supreme Court revoked the guilty verdict of High Anti-Corruption Court. The case was blatantly obvious, as the convicted judge received a well-documented bribe. We look forward to the full text of the decision,because it looks like an attempt to protect a fellow judge.

    Ex-MP Logvynskyi was saved from criminal charges for misappropriation of 54mln UAH due to his immunity as a spouse of judge of the European Court of Human Rights. Now he wants to bury the entire case and clear his co-conspirators through the Supreme Court.

    Today Council of Judges also appointed its representatives to Selection Commission of HQCJ. Instead of trusted professionals of high integrity (like experts nominated by international donors), Council nominated dishonest judges of questionable reputation.

    Council of Judges had 30 days to nominate experts to Ethics Council (EC), the body which is crucial to judicial reform. Instead, they refused to nominate at least 1 representative to EC. The reform is effectively blocked by the judicial mafia.

    This is an important milestone for the judicial reform! International donors suggested top-notch experts to the selection panels. Now the Ukrainian side has to act and nominate equally good candidates. Unfortunately, Council of Justice is already protracting the process.

    The court is really gaining momentum. If during the first year judges made only 16 decisions, then during the second year judges made 29 decisions, 11 of which were made only during the last three months.

    HACC judges passed 45 sentences - 39 convictions and 6 acquittals. As of the end of August 2021, 11 decisions were transferred for execution, according to which 14 people were sentenced to imprisonment.
