This is why I have not been active in this whole Channel Awesome Thing. My trauma was not exclusive to Michaud or the Walkers, it was spread pretty evenly among abuse from other producers and fans. So I have no dog in this fight, justified though that fight may be.
To clarify because this is extremely important: the accused in this case did not do anything to me beyond some unwanted creepy comments. It’s not comparable to what his victims went through. But other producers did abuse me at a similar level so I sympathize. Lotta awful ppl.
And that’s all I have to say about that. I’ve been able to move on in recent years and I intend to keep it that way, so my discourse on Channel Awesome anything will be limited.

Many ppl didn’t know about it. Even for those that did, it’s complicated when something like that happens. Rapists are complex human beings, not easy to dismiss monsters.

Powerless. Jacob do you know what that means? Powerless means you can’t speak about the situation. Powerless means you don’t have any form of communication because you are truamatized by the person that abused you. You weren’t powerless. You chose not to say anything.

It's difficult because I too mourned him when he passed, and I still do because I consider anyone's suicide a tragedy. I'm not sure how to reconcile thinking he's vile for what he did while still feeling sympathy, thinking that maybe he committed suicide out of vast regret.
And just to clarify, I don't want this to sound like I'm "sympathizing with a rapist". But it is part of my being to care for and sympathize with anyone - the victims hurt or the people involved who don't deserve my sympathy . This shit's complicated, so I'm sorry.
This makes me phsyically ill... knowing that I loved and supported his content and mourned him when he passed. I feel really gross. I hope his victims have at least some sense of closure now that their story is out, but christ.
I honestly don't know what I would do if placed in your situation. Thousands of people not knowing they were honoring a rapist. You having to pretend that this guy was a good person or be harassed off the internet. Makes me sick just thinking about it.
Same I remember these rumors popping up right after his death and fans yelling about how DARE there even be speculation, respect for the family, etc. I can’t imagine how hard this has been for victims, they have the strength of mountains.
because no one actually stood up and supported said allegations that should have, regardless of the difficult situation that his widow and family were in. This was incredibly shitty on every level, his doing it and people who knew not supporting those who spoke up.
