I'm aware... but there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to vote when we're the most sane people in the country. Do people think that allowing kids to take a test that would allow them to vote if they understand what's going on well enough would work?

No, sorry, voting “literacy” tests were one of a number of backhanded ways of preventing black people from voting. We can’t go back, so I’m afraid you’ll just have to wait. Work on getting your slightly older peers registered and make sure your parents and their friends vote

Oh, I'm aware of literacy tests and I am trying to get everyone I can registered. I just think that better regulated tests for the people under the age of 18 would work - so long as the same test was given to everyone.

I'm going to be honest with you, the fact that you believe this would work is why you need a few more years of maturity before you should be eligible to vote. That said, I'm looking forward to the day when you and your peers can vote, you seem thoughtful, caring and intelligent.

Sure, 1) Standardized tests are biased, they favor the rich and white. A voting test would too. 2) It's impossible to get tests everywhere, the GOP would make sure the tests were widely available in rich white districts, but not in poorer communities of color.

I watched my Mother and Aunts fight for the Equal Rights Amendment in the 70's (lost in the Senate), I'm so proud of this movement. Gov. Scott is afraid of you and is stopping college campuses from being polling places. Make sure the people registering know their polling place.

My voice matters for this years midterm elections. This brought my family back the horror of 1968. It was terrible with the Vietnam War, Tet Offensive, MLK and RFK assassins, LBJ not running and the riots.
