All of us want to support our coworkers who've been deeply affected by the flooding catastrophe. & we know climate disasters will affect all of us in the future, this is not an isolated incident. So we need Amazon to fund ongoing climate disaster relief.

As Pakistani workers, many of us have been disappointed by Amazon’s lack of action over the past several months even after this was brought to the company’s attention, and so now we’re calling publicly for Amazon to take action

They’ve seen Amazon warehouses pollute the air of other neighborhoods with diesel trucks, and burn through the workforce with high turnover. People deserve better, more secure jobs that don’t destroy their neighborhoods or their planet.

Last Saturday, we rallied with to get Amazon to pull the permit for a planned warehouse in the Mt Baker neighborhood. Due to this community pressure, Amazon declared they had no plans to expand in the Rainier Valley!

Yesterday we learned Amazon’s carbon emissions increased another 18% last year and 40% since they announced the climate pledge. This was driven in part by a massive increase in warehouse construction. Once again, Amazon prioritizes profit over the planet.

RALLY Sat, 12pm! Community leader Jamil: An Amazon warehouse "would drastically alter any hope we have in our community for walkable & affordable living for BIPOC families, elders, and youth - who envision a nature based environment ready to tackle the impacts of climate change"
Community — We Need Your Support!!

An Amazon warehouse in the heart of South Seattle would drastically alter any hope we have in our community for walkable and affordable living for BIPOC families, elders and youth — who envision a nature based environment ready to tackle the impacts of climate change. This project would alter everything from traffic in the area to how we envision and develop North Rainier in the future.

Come through this Saturday at Noon on MLK & Rainier to support the cause!

I’ll be one of the speakers along with some amazing community leaders who will give voice to the vision of a walkable and healthy Mt. Baker. Special shout out to @trae_baeee of @blackactioncoalition for organizing the people, setting this up and inviting me out. I live at the Mt. Baker Lightrail Station in the ArtSpace Lofts and we’ve been dealing with a lot in our neighborhood, so this hits particularly home to me.

Hope to see you there! We can enjoy the fun in and sun right after! 😎

Amazon has been putting polluting warehouses in communities of color for years. It's time the company listens to what community members actually want:

Have you heard that Amazon is systematically polluting and harming communities of color, causing elevated rates of respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses? This is what happens when companies commit to net zero, instead of true zero, emissions. Watch how this happens 👇

Further, air pollution from the massive influx of diesel traffic accompanying a new warehouse is particularly harmful to children, stunting their lung development and causing asthma and respiratory illnesses that will impact them the rest of their lives.

Across the country communities are also resisting Amazon’s unsustainable growth and horrific labor practices. Our company brags about inadequate climate goals or job growth while hiding its negative impact on workers & communities where it builds.
