Socialism fails because it requires compelling producers to redistribute while disincentivising production - creating a vicious cycle devolving to equalizing supply with demand by literally killing off demand.

And to achieve compulsion of equality, some must be imbued with power to compel - requiring implementing the antithesis of the alleged goal.
