Antifragility: you have to allow some relationships to fail for people to value these that survive. Low cost fast failures when young, so that you can avoid high cost failures when older. The problem with modernity is lowering the cost of failure too much.

Attention from social media is lower risk than attention from real life, which incentivizes risquér (riskier) dressing in real life. Birth control obscures other risk factors of promiscuity.

Sure, I see that modernity lowers the cost of failure, but I'm trying to figure out precisely why it's too low, now. i.e., just the badness of promiscuity, or does it somehow devalue persistent relationships? to figure out the cost/benefit structure, optimal cost of failure
