All she really did was put a male character in the position of women who aren't taken seriously and are left out of the planning process. The bigger problem was ignoring possibility of mutiny and not executing him, instead compliments and sends him on his way like a school marm.
He would not have mutinied because she was a school marm. And the purpose was to insult you, not to show equality. That is just a pretense

It's been a while since I watched it, I vaguely remember the scenes seeming like a checklist based off proverbial workplace sexism. It was hamfisted but it didn't seem as hostile in an era when other scripts are vessels to include definitions of patriarchy and race theory
