It doesn't. There's a law of identity relation, which shows that consciousness doesn't have the correct properties to be physics.

Insects are little better than simple computers, yet they have "minds" that are no different that a machine. The computer you use has an animals sense of self-awareness. It sees the world as a series of keystrokes and pixels with no awareness of what it means.
