The Railway Mail Service had a high accident rate as trains went faster and wooden mail cars were located behind the engine. Between 1890-1905, more than 141 RMS clerks lost their lives. Here's a wreck in Danville, Virginia, from Sept. 27, 1903.

I had never been to the National Postal Museum in D.C. before until this week. My favorite exhibit—of course—was about the sorting of mail on moving trains, an innovation that began after the Civil War and lasted through 1977 after decades of declining railroad traffic.

Drove three hours to take in the wonderful healing waters at the warm springs in Bath County. The oldest spa structure in the country, the bath houses closed in 2017 for rehabilitation. It was worth the wait for them to reopen.

In Hot Springs for a business meeting. So impressed with the changes in facilities, and attitudes. The Warm Springs Pools will reopen in December. Minimum wage for non tipped employees at the Homestead is $15/hr. That is progress!
