#SCOTUS won't intervene to stop construction for Obama presidential center in a Chicago park. Justice Amy Coney Barrett denied the emergency request without referring it to the full court.

A group claimed that the federal government failed to assess the environmental impact of building the center, as required by law.

What was the grounds for a SCOTUS challenge anyway? What was the complaint, and from what plaintiff?

Amy Coney Barrett is the last person I'd expect to rule in favor of an environmental advocacy group.

I'm surprised Justice Barrett ruled since she would normally recuse from this if it were a cert petition, given that she wrote for a panel majority on this case at 7CA at an earlier phase.

Technically this was a separate case (both in Dct and CA7) from the one where she wrote the CA7 opinion. She did recuse from the cert decision in that earlier case.
