Here’s a video of the test environment that people asked for. Three separate tracked spaces, with two 2.0 BS each, all in a shared virtual space. (Seems to work even behind closed door) Trackers placed within the shared space to show common coordinate system between spaces.pic.twitter.com/efqJKajky6

Multiple rooms as in one big connected space?
-
Multiple real rooms separated by real walls! ...but with connected physical hallways.

-
So this is all on one PC and creates a multi-room tracked space that someone can walk around with a wireless headset?
-
Yup... making VOID-like arcade experiences just got a LOT easier... (and VR classrooms or offices)
-
Do you need the real walls to block competing lasers?
-
Doesn’t appear to have the interference issues that 1.0 had! (So with or without walls seems to both work) ...but again, it’s Beta software so may not be true for everyone.
-
I understand folks usually go with OptiTrack because of reliability. But if
@htcvive can offer a multi-room package with that kind of reliability then SteamVR might be able to own that market. When will you know if it is reliable enough for real world deployment? -
It’s still beta...but so far the initial tests haven’t showed any major issues. Anyone can download and help test too. It’s a publicly available.

It still only tracks from 4 at a time right now.
-
To be completely clear; the 1st four that it sees in a session. So this announcement is a little premature. This release is mainly about beta support for the radio-based channel configuration tools.
-
It randomly switches between them sometimes though doesn't it? Though somewhat erratically so definitely not usable in production yet.
-
We found that having a tracker in each room seemed to stabilize the whole structure.
-
Huh, now that is interesting...
-
What happens if you overlap channels between the two rooms btw? Using say, channel 4 in both rooms. My experiments caused universe flipping but I didn’t anchor with a tracker. I know the eventual plan involves tracking by serial so that they can overlap...

Next test…connecting
@TpcastVR to this setup, otherwise you're gonna need some pretty friggin long HDMI/USB cables -
Backpack PC will make more sense for this use case.
-
-
Because backpack allow to walk where you want and wirelless has an antena on tripod that need to see you !
