Spotted pardalotes are one of my absolute favourites. Their delicate polka dots are too adorable! Often seen high up in the canopy, we were lucky to get one in the nets.

It can get cold in , and the echidnas there are so furry that their spines only just poke out beyond their thick coats.

My first malleefowl sighting. These chicken-sized birds construct huge mounds of decaying vegetation and sand to incubate their eggs. Upon hatching, chicks emerge from the mound and fend for themselves with no parental care. What a hard start to life!

I've finally found a positive to being a very petite female - fieldwork shirts are cheaper because I have to buy kids sizes 😂

First day back in the office. Those 2 weeks off were much needed - I was feeling very burnt out with little motivation for my project. I have new found energy and clarity today. Remember, it's OK to take time off. We are not machines.

Magpie showcasing his impressive mimicry! I think I can hear crickets, kookaburra, a whistle, silver gull, dog barking and maybe a pigeon, interspersed with calls of other species and some magpie warbling too 🎶

Twitchers go to Monkey Mia to see the western grasswren. They seem to have remained relatively unaffected by the MM Resort - they're spotted at the carpark! Contrast this with their disppearance in overgrazed areas. Resiliant to some, but not all types of disturbance.
