Thank you, for giving the Organized Retail Crime Task Force the tools we need to stop organized retail theft in our state.   Organized retail theft is bad for businesses, consumers and public safety. It will not be accepted in California.

I call on to act to protect workers nationwide from extreme heat. From farmworkers to warehouse workers, extreme heat risks lives and livelihoods. And as climate change results in more intense heatwaves, we don’t have a moment to waste.

I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Supervisor Richard Valle. His kind heart, gentle touch, and deep humanity will be sorely missed.  He was a lifelong fighter for workers and vulnerable communities, and he saw and valued each and every person he served.  My condolences to his wife Barbara, his loved ones, and the entire Alameda county community.

8 individuals have been charged with felonies for an organized retail theft scheme targeting Apple stores with an estimated $1M loss amount. Organized retail theft costs businesses and consumers – and puts the public at risk. Brazen criminal activity won't be tolerated in CA.

More on our settlement against The Pill Club from . I'm grateful to the whistleblowers and our investigators for their work on this case. We will keep fighting to hold companies who try to enrich themselves at the expense of taxpayers accountable.

The jury returned 38 felony guilty verdicts with multiple enhancements and aggravating factors against these defendants. However, today’s sentencing did not recognize the level of horror that the Rainbow Bright victims experienced at the hands of the Gamos Family.

A San Mateo County Superior Court judge imposed prison sentences for three members of the Gamos Family, who were found guilty by jury of human trafficking and labor-related crimes in the Bay Area.

This decision is dangerous & misguided. Firearms are used in more than half of intimate partner homicides in America. Restraining orders, including Domestic Violence Restraining Orders, still prohibit firearm possession in CA. Learn how to request one: oag.ca.gov/ogvp/gvro-dvro
Domestic Violence Restraining Orders (DVRO)
 
What is a DVRO?
A DVRO is a written order signed by the court, prohibiting a named person from harassing or physically abusing a family member or significant other. In California, a person subject to a DVRO is automatically prohibited from owning, possessing, purchasing, receiving firearms or ammunition.
 
Who can request a DVRO?
You can request a DVRO if:
     1.  You want a restraining order against:
          a.  Your spouse, ex-spouse, registered domestic partner, or ex-registered domestic partner;
          b.  Someone you have a child with;
          c.  Your parent, child, sibling, or grandparent (including in-laws);
          d.  A significant other that you live with or used to live with.
AND
     2.  That person has been abusive.
          a.  Abuse can be spoken, written, and/or physical. It can be sexual or emotional. Examples include threats of violence, excessive yelling, attempts to control aspects of your life, stalking, har
