The trades ARE a form of higher education and an opportunity every high school student in America should know about!

Thank you Juan Rico of @IBEW for coming and talking to the players today about the electric trade! Have had college coaches stop by daily, but there is more than one path to a successful life and the trades offer tremendous opportunities.

Democratic elected officials and their staff should not be holding or attending events at University of California campuses. Neither should supposedly progressive organizations. Stop. Crossing. The picket line.

On the 10 year remembrance day of the tragedy at Sandy Hook, we remember the lives of teachers, school staff and children that were lost. While we have made progress with the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, we still have a long way to go to make sure schools are safe.

I consider December 14th, 2012 the single darkest day of my presidency. The news from Sandy Hook Elementary was devastating, a visceral blow, and like so many others, I felt not just sorrow but anger at a world that could allow such things to happen.

Public disclosure will also benefit other stakeholders in large private companies such as employees, communities, customers and lenders. We urge passage of S.4857. #1u

S. 4857 will close a longstanding loophole that allows large private companies to circumvent the disclosure rules so long as they have fewer than 2,000 shareholders “of record."

This transparency is long overdue to protect the retirement savings of working people who are increasingly invested in these private companies, as well as other stakeholders in private companies.

We support the Private Markets Transparency and Accountability Act (S. 4857), which will require the same levels of public disclosure for large private companies currently required for publicly listed companies under Section 12(g) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.

Raising interest rates is NOT the only solution for our economic crisis. You know who's NOT feeling the cost of inflation this holiday season? Major corporations & their CEOs, whose profits have increased by more than *80%* in the last two years alone. #1u

All we want is a level playing field between bosses and workers. The is an independent agency that resolves labor disputes, and the wants to see it decimated. In the real world, the NLRB has already been crushed by flat budgets and rising costs. It's a disgrace!
Quote Tweet
Even though the @NLRB is now responsible for far more workers than it was a decade ago, their funding has remained flat. It is critical that Congress boost NLRB funding to protect workers’ well-being. epi.org/blog/congress-

Each confirmation of a judicial nominee committed to the rights of working people makes a difference in the lives of America’s families & strengthens democracy. Time for our senators to remember this & prioritize confirming judges before the end of this Congress! #CourtsMatter

The Respect for Marriage Act will safeguard the rights and protections to which LGBTQ+ and interracial couples and their children are entitled. It will also ensure that LGBTQ+ youth will grow up knowing that they can lead full, happy lives and build families of their own.
