Oh dear, travelled easily before EU and will travel after EU. All over Europe & the world.
I moved to Brussels at 19 to improve my French, no job, built a career, stayed six yrs & returned fluent in French & Dutch.

If there was no EU you could have done the same thing.

Not without a job to go to and proof of funds. I did the same in Spain. In fact 4x. That delightful freedom will be gone.
