So why didn’t you join?

So you have no actual experience as a JW. Unlike me who was one for 24 years. Maybe watch and actually learn something. “You don’t join.” Moronic. It’s called getting baptized. If you couldn’t join then there wouldn’t be disfellowshipping. And losing your family.

So if you examine the religion & realize they are lying & you question as to why that is...then dig deeper & come to see they are using methods of control found in other nefarious groups...what are you supposed to do? Say oh well, & walk away? Doing what is right gets you df’d.

I agree with everything she wrote--and I'm an ex-JW who not only studied for thirty years, but was a pioneer. While I no longer agree with all the doctrines or go to the Hall, I think it's pretty messed up to call it a cult. It's not. If people want to walk away, they can.
-
Ah yes. People can walk away. Without their only friends they were allowed to have their entire life. Without their job if they work for a JW. Without their family. But yeah, you can walk away at any time. With nothing. It’s a cult and you’re still blinded by it.

Inviting ex-JWs to criticize the Watchtower. Some journalism.

The show has reached out to the “church” of Scientology repeatedly—I am sure that they have done the same for JW.
-
They reached out to the JW governing body and instead of agreeing to appear on the show or send a representative, they reffered them to their official website

It’s their choice to not take part in the discussion—it’s not bad journalism, it’s reporting on a topic that the target doesn’t want to be reported on. Literally every negative news story, ever.
-
It's not journalism. It's a show. Like the Jeremy Kyle show. People come and you already know they're going to complain, whine, grouch , criticize.
-
No organization that takes themselves seriously would take part in this.
-
They have every ability to take part in the narrative and have chosen not to do so.

I moved in with my dad, to save my life as my " mother" was a Jehovah's witnesses. Which started when I was 13. Horrible "religion" . Can't wait to watch, love what you do.

She's telling this story in the way it should always have been told: from the perspective of people who have been harmed in large numbers. I love this show and find her intelligent and compassionate.
