    Important study characterising long covid in 510 kids. Only 25% had continuous symptoms. Lower energey levels was the most common problem and affected almost all the cohort. Proud that my post-doc contributed to this work!

    A student asked me this morning for LGBTQ books. I asked her fiction or non fiction and she said fiction. Pulled up my lists and told her I had titles in realistic fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, horror etc. Her eyes got wide. "They make LGBTQ books in fantasy?!"

    If you're a BMA member you will soon be receiving a voting pack. We have seen a significant drop in real terms income in combination with escalating cost of living. I’ll be using my votes to support candidates pushing for pay restoration.

    As a doctor, I can tell the public this. You have zero idea what’s happening behind the scenes of the NHS. Do not believe the government’s take on the pandemic. Reduced work force, massive waiting list. Even if you don’t believe the hype, trust me, it WILL affect you.

    Why should you mask? I’ll tell you why: because your life is going to become un𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘺 hard in the future if you haven’t protected yourself from SARS-CoV2. 🧵👇

    I was called a warmonger in 2014 when I said Putin would not stop with Crimea & E Ukraine. Now everyone admits that I was right, but wants to repeat the same mistake now. Letting Putin destroy Ukraine *increases* the threat of a greater conflict, including nuclear.

    I’ve had emails from readers all over the world telling me how my stories have helped them through some tough times. From doctors in Zambia to soldiers in Afghanistan to a widow in Canada. Stories give people the mental space to deal with life.

    I get messages from readers who take my books to chemo treatments, who read to distract themselves from painful divorces or to dull the sharp end of grief. Storytelling is the oldest, most human magic.

    I think these women are brave to speak their truth. However as a former athlete, I think it hurts women’s sports. We’ve fought hard for equality in sport. Biologically male athletes have an advantage. It’s genetics and not bigotry. We need a solution that’s equitable for all.

    Female athlete here..and I'm pissed. Angry for all the young female athletes who look at this and have to resign themselves to never winning because someone competes against them based on gender identity and the whole world celebrates this as progress.

    “I commute two hours per day, just to sit on Teams meetings all day.” Hearing this a lot right now. There’s no way to bring 2019 back, how we work has been transformed. So there’s got to be a planned purpose for in-person work. Not just because it’s a Thursday.
