Men equally suffer from Domestic violence and because of fear about how they will be viewed by the community if they report that they are being abused. Don't lose your life because of silence. Speak to someone you trust for help. via

Too many abusers want to claim they have a disorder. They’ll claim they’re depressed, and the depression is making them do that. No disorder makes you call your partner demeaning and degrading names. They [the abuser] still have choices. Be rightly informed.

Believing that domestic violence abusers are mentally ill can be a “trap of misinformation,” that can lead, among other things, to victims believing their abusers will get better if they just get help for their mental illness.

Emotional abuse is a common & damaging myth—without bruises, cuts, broken bones, bandages or a black eye. It involves being controlled, feeling scared or being forcefully isolated. A very real & prevalent type of intimate partner violence.

Women are most likely to be victims of coercive relationships because societies tends to idealize romantic love as being the most important aspect of one’s life. Women are also raised to please and do anything to make the relationship work by society as well.

This is called perspecticide; the abuse-related incapacity to know what you know (Stark, 2007). Perspecticide is often part of a strategy of coercive control that may include manipulation, stalking, gaslighting and physical abuse. -Lisa Aronson Fontes, Ph.D.
