    The pursuit of truth requires a greater burden of evidence and responsibility...which must be explicitly acknowledged. This paper does that, and for that I tip my hat at you

    A survey of 4000+ scientists has painted a damning picture of the culture in which they work, suggesting that competitive & hostile environments damage the research. Universities need to do a much better job of selecting and training good mentors.

    Yes to more virtual talks! Think of all the possibilities...older intellectuals who cannot travel but still have fresh ideas, international intellectuals unable to travel due to politics, finances, etc...

    We need to allow more virtual talks at universities. It leads to reduced: -physiological stress from jet lag -travel costs borne by hosts -damage to the environment In so many ways, it’s a huge win for everyone. I’m vowing right now to do this with my future university invites.

    I see people using evo psychology to justify this and that as the norm. Besides the confusion between "norm" as "statistically prevalent" and as "what ought to be", if there's one thing that evo teaches us is that individual differences are the basis of all life.

    Although I agree with a lot (ok, 90%) of this article, I reject their insistence on rejecting replicability based on a 99.9% CI. The 95% CI results are a more compelling case because of its accuracy *yes, I know it’s counterintuitive - 100% CI includes infinity (least accurate)
