    5. If you own a swimming pool, animals may come to it for water. Check it regularly and provide means for animals to climb out if they fall in (e.g., non-slip material draped over the edge).

    1. Keep dogs indoors so wildlife can flee safely through your yard if they need to. 2. Leave out trays of water for animals and birds escaping fires. Use shallow trays with a few sticks or stones to allow smaller animals to escape if they fall in.

Here are some of the pups from Nowra we’re looking after. Flying fox mothers typically give birth to one pup a year. Mass abandonment events that have occurred over the last two months have many worried about the loss of the 2019 flying fox generation.

It's feathered Friday! This little one is no more than two days old. He came out of a nest built entirely by his mother in 3–4 days. She built it using spiders’ webs, fine twigs and grass, then lined it with wool, feathers and animal hair.

If you find an animal with heat stress - lethargic and unresponsive - call us on 0432 300 033 (you'll probably need to move it into a cool, dark, quiet place). If you see a bat low in the trees or within reach, do not touch it but call us immediately.

This is Banjo, who has the classic behaviour of running to his burrow when trouble is about, eats voraciously, and doesn’t care much for humans.
