The grand jury investigation began this week and its exact timeline is an open question. It’s always been our position that the determination on what justice looks like belongs to James’ family and those who were closest to him. We hope the grand jury process brings just that. 3/
We also recognize that hurt and harm could have been avoided if the initial response had been more thorough and rooted in recognition of the racial biases in the justice system. 4/
