LB 814 disregards Nebraskans’ health and undermines their freedom to make personal decisions in consultation with their physicians. It puts a narrow ideological agenda over patient health. It makes it a crime for doctors to use their best medical judgment.

We have a fundamental right to access abortion care without undue burdens. That’s why courts have blocked this ban every time it has been challenged.

Like each prior challenge, a decision on litigation has to be made in conversation with the people most directly impacted. In this case, that’s Nebraskans seeking care and their providers. We want them to know we are here to help.

This care remains legal and available in Nebraska until November. We will use these next few months to work with those most impacted to evaluate litigation to stop this unconstitutional ban.

Whether through the courts or the Capitol, we are committed to doing everything we can to protect access to abortion care in Nebraska. Supporters can help by holding lawmakers accountable when they vote this fall.

Health – not politics – should always guide medical decisions at every point in pregnancy. Reproductive rights shouldn’t be up for debate.
