Yeah, and drinking is only a crime because you're under 21. We designate a lot of crimes simply because of age. THAT is t the reason it's a problem. The reason is that most of the time, jail doesn't fix the problem behavior here.
WA jails youth more often than any other state for truancy, running away, etc - offenses that are only crimes because of the child's status as a minor.
